An only child, born and bred in Dordover, Erienne only ever wanted to be a mage. Her parents, though, wanted her to marry young so forging a trading alliance. Though her early education was standard, she was monitored by Dordovan college staff as her natural aptitude developed. They had an official approach rebuffed by Erienne's father but on her fourteenth birthday, rather than appear at her betrothal party, Erienne ran to the college whose doors closed firmly behind her. Her parents have never forgiven her.

Erienne's promise was fulfilled early. Always a quality caster, she concentrated on becoming a lore scribe, her core talent. Dordover wanted her wedded to the college all her life but found her as hard to control as did her parents. Craving a normal life, she lived outside the college walls, married Alun Beron, a long time sweetheart, and had twin sons, Aron and Thom.

Erienne's dedication to motherhood limited her lore study but she was intrigued by what her sons could achieve and they grew used to the college in infancy. Erienne began their schooling in magic as soon as they could talk; a decision that Alun could never fully reconcile. The consequences of this action are recounted in Dawnthief.
